Jaguar XF – the 2010 police version for Plod

The first ever Police-spec XF is about to go on patrol across the Midlands. The Central Motorway Police Group, which patrols motorways across Staffordshire, Mercia and the West Midlands has bought seven high performance Police vehicles based on the award-winning Jaguar XF Diesel S model.
The Police-specification Jaguars feature the 275PS 3.0-litre Diesel S engine.
The Jaguar XF beats other contenders with a fuel economy figure of 42mpg and an excellent CO2 rating of 179 g/km. The XF’s residual value is a key factor in making it a financially sound choice for police forces. Research carried out by EurotaxGlass’s suggest the new 3.0-litre XF will retain an impressive 80 per cent of its purchase price after 12 months or 14,000 miles which makes it the best in class, and an astonishing 45 per cent of its value after three years and 60,000 miles of motoring.

As for the engine, the 3-litre diesel is as powerful and frugal as you’d expect of a BMW. It will reach 62mph in 6.3sec, return 44.8mpg in the combined fuel-economy cycle and emit 166g/km of carbon dioxide, at a cost of £37,100. The version I drove, with the optional £1,495 eight-speed automatic gearbox, was more economical still, with even lower emissions. That will hit 60mph in 8sec, top 140mph, yet return 56.5mpg — that may look like a misprint but it’s not.

Alfa Romeo Giulietta

In two decades Alfa has gone from flair to fair. When they weren’t disappointing, Alfa’s recent cars were downright indifferent, a crime for any car maker but especially for one that built its reputation on passion.

The 1.4tb Veloce petrol model, which promised least but delivered most. As its name suggests, its engine is tiny but is turbocharged all the way to 170bhp. Yet, thanks to Alfa’s innovative Multiair engine technology, which allows flexibility in the valve timing, it is capable of close to 50mpg. The result is a car that is quick, nimble and engaging when you want to have fun, and quiet, comfortable and classy when you don’t. In other words, everything a modern Alfa should be. Even the interior, source of so many annoyances in years gone by, is stylish yet ergonomic. The build quality has taken a leap forward, too.

Lexus LFA

It is understood that LFA is the first development of Lexus supercar. It is made by Lexus’s top design and engineering team and it costs about 10 years. LFA uses a variety of advanced technologies to create high strength, ultra-lightweight body. The latest use of carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP). It can not only achieve four times the aluminum of high strength but also reduce body weight perfectly. The low friction of engine programming is so successful that the idle speed can reach the limit in just 0.6 seconds. They approached the LFA from a non-traditional angle, pushing their technological, material and engineering boundaries at every step.
The result is the rear-wheel drive LFA, a dynamically styled supercar powered by a sophisticated new high-revving 4.8-liter V10 engine that generates 552 hp (412kW/560DIN hp) and 354 lb-ft (480Nm) of torque for adrenaline-fuelled 202 mph (325km/h) performance. This is the most powerful engine in all maximum production. The acceleration time of LFA from 0-10km/h is just 3.7 seconds. This is really excited auto monster.
Engine summary
• Breathtaking performance from an all-new 4.8-liter V10 powerplant rich in motorsport technology

• High-revving engine develops an exceptional 552 hp (412kW/560DIN hp) at 8700rpm and 354 lb-ft (480Nm) of torque at 6,800 rpm

• Rear-wheel drive LFA rockets to 60 mph (96km/h) in 3.6 seconds and has a top speed of 202 mph (325km/h)

• Low-friction powerplant features motorsport-developed independently controlled throttle body for each cylinder and dry sump lubrication

• Front-mid engine V10 is smaller than a traditional V8 engine and as light as a conventional V6 engine yet generates 115 hp (85.7 kW/117DIN hp) per liter

Jaguar XKR convertible

The 2010 Jaguar XKR Convertible got a lot of power under the hood (given her dance routines, we'll assume the same is true of Ms. Knowles). The XKR has 510 hp, far more than the 385 hp in the XK Portfolio. It's also got 461 lb-ft of torque and a six-speed transmission, which adds up to a 0-60 time of 4.6 seconds. Let me tell you, that is believable number. The top speed is electronically limited to 155 mph

Engine of Bugatti Veyron

The Veyron features an 8.0-litre (1.8 imp gal; 2.1 US gal) W16 engine — sixteen cylinders in two banks of eight cylinders, or the equivalent of two narrow angle V8 engines mated in a "W" configuration. Each cylinder has four valves for a total of sixty four, but the narrow staggered eight configurations allows two overhead camshafts to drive two banks of cylinders so only four camshafts are needed. The engine is fed by four turbochargers and displaces 7,993 cubic centimetres (487.8 cu in), with a square 86 mm by 86 mm (3.4 in × 3.4 in) bore and stroke.
The transmission is a dual clutch Direct-Shift Gearbox computer-controlled automatic with seven gear ratios, with magnesium paddles behind the steering wheel and a shift time of less than 150 milliseconds.
According to Volkswagen Group, the DIN rated[citation needed] motive power output, approved by TÜV Süddeutschland, of the final production Veyron engine produces 1,001 metric horsepower (736 kW; 987 bhp) and generates 1,250 newton metres (922 ft•lbf) of torque. The figure has been confirmed by Bugatti officials to actually be conservative, with the real total being 1020 bhp or more.
The top speed was verified by James May on Top Gear for the November 2006 issue, again at Volkswagen Group's private Ehra-Lessien test track, where the final-production car hit 407.9 km/h (253.5 mph), which equated to almost one-third of the speed of sound at sea level.

The Aston Martin elevated to iconic status by James Bond films was yesterday named Britain's best-loved car. It topped a poll of the nation's favourite motors of the last 25 years. One in 10 motorists picked the luxury sports car's DB9 model, the DBS version of which was driven by 007 star Daniel Craig in the latest movies.
In the TV programme of TopGear, the Aston Martin DB9 was separated in the fridge section of the cool wall.
The DB9 enjoys lots of power from its 6.0 liter, V12 engine that offers a whopping 450 horsepower and 420 lb ft of torque. This amount of torque will give you immediate whiplash if not careful. Married to this engine is a choice of two transmissions. The first is a manual 6 speed and the second is an automatic triptronic transmission. If you are wondering about acceleration, the DB9 definitely offers quick acceleration- less than 5 seconds from 0 to 60 and with its large 19 inch wheels, the DB9 offers incredible handling and performance.

New Lagonda

Aston-Martin is a production-based sports car, production line is relatively simple. At present, lots of sports car factories switch their eyes to SUV. Porsche cayenne is a classic example. This made Aston-Martin could hardly sit still, and it plans to introduce a SUV. Aston Martin shocked the Geneva motor show, and it unveiled the Lagonda Concept, a V12-engined SUV. It’s the fruit of a new collaboration between Aston and Mercedes-Benz, which will provide the 4x4 hardware and engine tech-from the Merc GL SUV. The Lagonda Concept is based on the four-wheel drive chassis of Mercedes GL, so it’s four-wheel drive, but unlike its donor car, the Lagonda version seats just four and features a V12 engine up front.
But to pacify those with a conscience, Aston Martin promises it is ‘committed to innovative new propulsion technologies’, so Mercedes or another supplier will provide alternative powertrains such as flexi-fuels, hybrids and diesels. It is not a finished car though- Lagonda won’t have a production car on the road for at least three years.

Audi R8 VS Ferrari F430

Today I saw a Audi R8 race with a Ferrari F430. Though it just have few seconds, it is Amazing. Especially the engine sound, so great. It seems that the acceleration of the R8 is faster than F430.
Two monsters, two GTs, two of the most famous cars in the world. One German, one Italian. They are both two-seater coupes with a rear-centre mounted V8 engine. The F430 it is powered by a V8 engine delivering 490 hp while the R8 delivers 420 hp. The R8 has a top speed of 187 mph. The F430 has a top speed of 196 mph. The F430 makes 0 to 100km/h in 4 seconds, covering 1000m from a standing start in 21.6 seconds. The R8 takes an extra six tenths of a second to reach the 100km/h mark. Each has its own character, its own beauty. Again, they are hard to compare.

The New MultiJet II Diesel Engine For The Alfa Romeo MiTo

The Alfa Romeo MiTo range has offered economical yet powerful diesel derivatives since it was launched in the UK in 2009. Now Alfa Romeo is ushering in the next generation of diesel technology with the introduction of MultiJet II.
The MultiJet II diesel engine marks its arrival in the form of the Alfa Romeo MiTo 1.3 JTDM-2. This new engine perfectly complements the Alfa Romeo MiTo philosophy of lowered emissions and fuel consumption without compromising performance and drive satisfaction.
Developed by Fiat Powertrain Technologies (FPT), MultiJet II is a continuation of FPT’s remarkable technologies pedigree.
Introduced in 2003, MultiJet was a development of UniJet which debuted on the Alfa 156 JTD in 1997. It improved the thermodynamic efficiency of the engine by introducing five injections during the same combustion cycle. Now in 2010 the Alfa Romeo MiTo benefits from the next generation of MultiJet technology.
Thanks to a new balanced solenoid servo valve, MultiJet II is able to control with high precision, the quantity of fuel injected into the cylinder, with a quicker and more flexible injection sequence. In fact, the new MultiJet II system can manage eight injections per cycle.
It all means that the second generation 1.3-litre MultiJet provides the driver with an engine that complies with Euro 5 emissions legislation, yet in 95bhp form gives the Alfa Romeo MiTo a 0-62mph acceleration time of 11.6 seconds while returning 65.7mpg (combined cycle) and emitting just 112g/km of CO2.

My favorite game, My favorite car- Porche Carrera GT

I initially recognized the Porsche CarreraGT from NFS. It is my favorite car in the racing game. The price is $444,000 dollars. It is well worth its price if we count the 5.7 litre V10 engine producing 612 DIN (605 SAE) horsepower (450KW) and the acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h (62.5 mph) in 3.9 seconds, touching a maximum speed of 330 km/h (205 mph). The design is stunning too. The following video is the CarreraGT in the racing game and it is shot by myself. I have uploaded it to Youtube.

Audi Innovation- Quattro

In 1980, the Audi Quattro which is appeared at the Geneva Motor Show caused a sensation in car industry, not because of its angular shape of the coupe, nor its amazing 200-horsepower engine. The real secret exists in the aspect that the car’s driving model - four-wheel drive. At that time, four-wheel-drive technology is limited to off-road vehicles; the emergence of Audi quattro opened a new chapter in the history of civil-wheel-drive cars.
In the 30-year history, the Audi quattro all-wheel-drive system has undergone six times innovation, each time of evolution set new standards for all-wheel-drive technology.
1980, first generation-hollow shaft

1986, second generation-Torque-sensing differential-A

1988, the third generation-first time applied to automatic models

1994, the fourth generation-torque-sensing center differential-B; first time to use EDL (Electronic Differential Lock)

1997, the fifth generation-optimized Torque-sensing differential-A

2005, the sixth generation-Torque-sensing differential-C; the birth of the Audi Q series

Ferrari Factory

The name of Ferrari seems to always link with the movement and speed, the hot-blooded red color and the symbol of unruly horse has become a king of totem in the minds of many people. The factory of Ferrari is located just outside the small town of Maranello south and a bit west from Modena.

The gate of Ferrari factory seems disproportionate with brand; gray cement building is incredibly simple. Imaginary Ferrari red and Horse signs are not found. But here is the original office of Mr. Enzo Ferrari who was the founder. Enzo Ferrari was born on February 18, 1898 near Modena, Italy. The factory of Ferrari in Maranello is composed of headquarters, R & D institutions, workshops and test track. In order to avoid be too excited, gray color has replaced the red color; it becomes the main colors of factory buildings.

It is a garden factory, even in the workshop it can be seen green everywhere. Strolling in the workshop, it totally doesn’t see a general picture of the factory-busy, stress and busy do not exist in worker's face. This is hardly surprising, Ferrari is different from the general depot, its production is small and mainly uses hand-assembly methods, and communication replaces the mechanical work to become an important content of the daily work. The factiry in Maranello is fact just assembly plants, car body stamping, welding and of many accessories are manufactured in other places. Therefore, it can not hear a deafening noise, and smell the pungent odor.

In 2002 Ferrari factory was elected by ILO as the most suitable place to work, there is a motto: workers here are willing to take to the streets dressed in working clothes after work.

Lamborghini Reventon

The Lamborghini Reventon was inspired by fighter jets inside and out, from its hi-tech in-dash display to the greenish, militaristic Grey Barra paint. The Reventon is even the only Lamborghini with a G-force meter -- a necessary gauge in a car with a 0 to 62 mph time of 3.4 seconds and a top speed of 211 mph. The car's sharp, aerodynamic angles were designed entirely in-house at Lamborghini HQ in Sant'Agata, Bolognese, Italy. And, like Lambos that have come before, the Reventon is named for a famous Spanish fighting bull.
The Lamborghini Reventon's V12 engine is the same one found in the Mucielago LP640, but it's been tweaked to deliver an additional 10 hp, for a total of 650 hp. The 487 lb-ft of torque delivers nearly instant forward thrust to the e-gear transmission, which Lamborghini claims shifts faster than even the most expert driver. Permanent all-wheel drive delivers powers to all the tires for maximum efficiency in transferring energy from the gas pedal to the pavement. Even the rims are functional: the turbine design works to cool the ceramic disk brakes.
The Reventon is immediately identifiable as a Lamborghini, with its low-slung stature, wide wheelbase, and sharply creased angles. But the designers as the Centro Stile took every angle a bit further by taking cues from modern fighter jets. The pronounced air intakes at the nose of the car don't work exactly like those found on jets, but they do allow for increased airflow to the uprated 12-cylinder engine. Like the Murcielago, the body is a carbon fiber composite, and the rear mid-mounted engine can be seen through a clear glass cover.

Muscle car

Muscle car is a term used to refer to a variety of high performance automobiles. Most people think that muscle cars strive for large discharge and large horsepower, regardless of fuel consumption, and built-in configuration of the American style is called "Muscle Car"! Modern muscle car began to have some change in the shape, but there are still a sense of the former kind of muscle.

The only mean to enhance the speed is using the great horsepower to drive vehicle. This naturally obtains difficult acceleration. It can be said that the car fill with a sense of strength. On the other hand, it has caused disadvantages such as relatively difficult to manipulate. In today's view of the automotive technology, tough line shape is not conducive to high speed, so the top speed is also compromised. But there is no denying that as a historic vehicle, muscle car has its unique charm.

Toyota recalls thousand s of prius cars worlwide

Toyota has announced the recall of about 436,000 hybrid vehicles worldwide, including its latest Prius model, to fix brake problems. And the factories in North American be closed down to stop sale.
Analysts believe that the Toyota's "recall” incident do not only influence the Toyota's corporate image and annual results, but also shake the consumer confidence in the world automobile industry. In 2008, Toyota exceeded the U.S. General Motors Corp., and the world's largest car manufacturer. The recall which is due to the potential safety problem will seriously damage the Toyota’s long-term label “safe and reliable”. Recently Toyota shares fell 20%, “recall” results the huge direct economic losses.

Mercedes F800

Today, Mercedes-Benz design style is gradually changing, new ideas continue to demonstrate. In the recently from the Mercedes-Benz F800 Style concept car, we can see a lot of new ideas, also it shows us a new design philosophy.
In the external form, F800 concept car is a four-door coupe, so this design is likely to appear on the next-generation CLS.
F800 also shows off Mercedes’ green drivetrain development. It is powered by a plug-in hybrid. It has 19 miles in electric-only mode, but when the petrol engine is running, things become rather more impressive: 0-62mph in 4.8 seconds and a top speed of 155mph.
In addition to power system, on F800 concept car, it also appears two new security technologies. For one thing, Distronic Plus Traffic Jam Assistant; another is PRE-SAFE 360system.

Direct Fuel Injection 911 Carrera

With millisecond accuracy, DFI injects fuel at a pressure of up to 1740 psi directly into the combustion chamber by means of electromagnetically actuated injection valves.
The spray and cone angles have been optimized for torque, power output, fuel consumption and emissions by enabling a homogeneous distribution of the air/fuel mixture, and, therefore, effective combustion. With direct injection, the EMS SDI 3.1 engine control regulates injection timing individually for each cylinder as well as the injection rate for each cylinder bank. This optimizes the combustion process and fuel economy. A hot-film air mass meter takes care of the airflow, so that the combustion chambers contain exactly the right mixture at all times.
DFI improves the internal cooling of the combustion chamber by having the mixture prepared directly in the cylinder. This allows for a higher compression ratio (12.5:1) which helps to deliver more output along with enhanced engine efficiency. It has therefore been possible to reduce CO2 emissions by up to 15%, depending on the model.

My blog

This blog is part of my work. My project is about the sports car, it will use the blog as the medium. It will offer comprehensive information of the sports car. I choose the sports car as the topic of my project, because I am keen on the sports car. In my mind, the sports can is regarded more as art rather than a simple vehicle.
My project is about the sports car. So the content will focus on the information of sports car. According to the target audiences, the blog will have three main parts- the car news, the cars and the engines. The car news is about the latest news about the sports car, for example the release of the new car, the price adjustment etc. The cars is about the normal information about the sports car, for example the feedback of the driver, top 10 sports cars etc. finally the engine, this is the special section in my blog. The sports car enthusiasts always have passion on the speed and want to be clear which car has the fastest acceleration and how the top speed it can be. In order to meeting these interests, I will exploit the engine information in this section. In order to make is more visual, I will insert video in this section. The video can be made by myself, also it can be applied from other websites, like top gear and Youtube.

I reckon on the support from the car enthusiasts.
